Magazine FeedingMagazine Feeding - Magazine feed is used for range of medium parts. One operator may operate several presses when magazine feed is used.Magazine feeds carry a stack of parts usually in an approximately vertical position from which a transfer motion feeds the bottom part directly to a die for the operation. The operator fills the magazine, properly orienting the parts, by hand, while they are fed out to the machine tool spindle automatically. Most widely used are magazines in which the blanks are fed by gravity along steel chutes with hardened and polished surfaces. The weight of the blank should ensure that it drops into the feeder. The principle parts of a magazine feeding device are the magazine proper (usually a chute) which retains the orientation of the loaded blanks; an escapement which separates the blank being fed out from the successive blanks; and the feeder which feeds out the blank to the spindle. Magazine feeding is used far the following kinds of blanks: 1. Closed die forgings 2. Smith forgings 3. Castings, and 4. Semi fabricated parts A magazine feed arrangement where the rubber faced grips (1) release the parts and regrip all but the one left on the transfer tong (2).
