Size and Specification of Broaching MachinesSize and Specification of Broaching Machines - The size of a broaching machine is specified by (i) The maximum pulling force in broaching, which may be up to 290-390 kN (30,000-40,000 kgf) in medium size machines and 1170 kN (120,000 kgf) in heavy machines. (ii) The maximum length of stroke, which ranges from 350.2300 mm in medium size machines. One manufacturer lists, as standard, machines having the following capacities and maximum stroke lengths:
Length of stroke of broaching machine is usually established to provide the maximum usefulness and flexibility of the machine. A machine with 750 mm maximum stroke can be adjusted to use as much or as little of the stroke as is needed to satisfy requirements of a particular operation. A vertical broaching machine is made with single, double or multiple rams. Such machines are available with strokes upto 2500 mm and up to 50 tons (45 metric tons) capacity. Horizontal broaching machines are made to handle broaches up to 2300 mm long and of 300 mm diameter or larger. They have capacities of from 5 to 50 tons (4.5-45 metric tons). |
