Band Sawing of PlasticsBand
Sawing
of
Plastics - Zero or positive rake blades with buttress or skip tooth form are used. Much band sawing is done at 300 to 90 t m/min though polyester and polystyrene are best cut with fairly fine spacing of 10 to 18 teeth per 25 mm. A coarser 4 to 10 tooth per mm blade is best for other plastics, though the rule of finer teeth for thinner parts should be followed. Feeds should be as fast as possible without gumming up the blade. |
