Plastics - Only the coarse series of threads should be used in plastics, and oversize taps are needed for most materials.
Cutting speeds can be about the same as used with brass, except for the harder thermosets and glass or asbestos filled plastics. A 5° negative rake angle is suggested for poly carbonate.
