Plastics - Most plastics can be turned at 90 to 180 m/min. Sharp tool bits with 10° to 15° clearance angles and 10° to 20° positive rake angles work with most plastics. Negative rake angles of 5° to 100 are recommended when turning acrylics and polycarbonate.
Fairly heavy feeds and depths can be used far roughing all except the harder plastics. Finished cuts should, of course, be at low feeds with a cutter having a nose radius. Most plastics can be machined quite easily, though some experimenting may be required.
