Construction of Vertical Boring Machines - VBMConstuction of Vertical Boring Machines - VBM - (i) Horizontal revolving table for accommodating the work. This can be fitted with chuck jaws for circular work or the tee slots may be used with bolts and clamps for setting up and holding irregular work. (ii) A horizontal crossrail, somewhat similar to that of a planer, supported on vertical column/slideways, and carrying the tool holder slides or turret head. The cross rail can be moved up or down. (iii) The too/holder in the form of a turret enables five tools to be accommodated and economises in tool changing and setting on work requiring several operations. The toolheads can be moved left or right and up or down. The tool heads may be straight or swivel type. They may be turret heads for multiple tooling or ram heads with a single tool holder. (iv) The side heads can be moved up or down on ways, and the tool slide can move in or out for facing turning and grooving.
