Difference Between Vertical Boring Machines with Horizontal Boring Machines

Difference Between Vertical Boring Machines with Horizontal Boring Machines -

(i) The words horizontal or vertical used when describing a boring machine refer to the orientation of the machine spindle that provides primary motion (main spindle). The boring tool held in the horizontal boring machine is horizontal and that held in a vertical borer is in the vertical direction.

(ii) Whereas the vertical boring machine is adapted to boring and turning operations on work that has a diameter or width greater in proportion than its length, the horizontal boring machine is adapted to drilling, boring and machining operations on works having diameter or width smaller in proportion to their length.
