Boring
Machines - The size of a horizontal boring machine is designated by the diameter of the spindle which may usually vary from 75 to 150 mm. The larger sizes will transmit more power and, equally important, the spindle will not sag or deflect as much when using a heavy cutting tool while extended. Since size of the spindle tells very little about the site of the job that can be bored on the machine, size of a boring machine is also specified by the table size and the distance between the spindle and the end support column in order to determine whether a given workpiece can be bored. Although each machine has a standard size table, special sizes may be ordered. |
