Types of Horizontal Boring MachinesTypes of Horizontal Boring Machines - Horizontal boring machines are of the following type: (i)Table type A table type horizontal boring machine. It is named so, because it has a worktable on which the job to be bored is mounted. Different parts of the table type, machine have been explained above. Floor type horizontal boring machines are used for carrying out boring operations on heavy jobs which cannot be mounted and adjusted on the worktable. That is why there is no saddle or worktable in a floor type HBM; rather there is floor plate (i.e., fixed table) on which 'heavy jobs are mounted. A floor type HBM.

Planer type horizontal boring machine resembles to the table type HBM, but differs in the sense that it has a reciprocating table very similar to that of a planer. The reciprocating, table moves on the bed, at right angles to the spindle. The machine is suitable for operations on big and long jobs. Multiple head type horizontal boring machine is similar in construction to a planer. The tool heads may be swivelled for angular cuts so that the machine can be used both for horizontal and vertical boring. The work table reciprocates.
