Open Side PlanersOpen Side Planers - An open side planer bas only one vertical (side) housing to which the cross rail is mounted. The open side permits the machining of wide workpieces. Thus, open side planers are used primarily for machining parts which exceed the normal width limitations of double housing planers. In

cases,
open

Most
planers
have

Adjustable dogs at the side of the bed control the stroke length of the platen. Only three tool heads are used on this type of planer. |
