Machining Time for ShapersMachining Time for Shapers - Let L be the length of stroke (m) of shaper (including tool: clearance at each end of stroke). Vc be the cutting speed in m/min, VR be the return speed in m/min. f be the feed per cycle in m. Maching time = Distance Travelled (L) / Speed Therefore time for cutting stroke, to = Lenght of stroke/Cutting speed tc = L / Vc Similarly , time for return Stroke, tR = L / VR Thus total time for one cycle, T = tc + tR Noe shaping widht W = width of the workpiece + Distance the tool moves on either side of the workpiece to ensure that the full width of the workpiece has been machined. The number of cycles * required to machine the workpiece = W / f - (iv) where f is the feed (m). Thus the machining time TM = No.of cycles * time per cycle TM = W / f * T
