Slotter Speeds and Feeds - Cutting speed of slotter may be defined as the average speed of tool during the cutting stroke and is expressed in meters per minute, (mpm).
Table below gives slotter cutting speeds (mpm) with high speed steel tool.

Feed in the slotter is the movement of workpiece in the direction parallel to the axis of the ram per double stroke. It is expressed in mm.
Depth of cut is the distance through which the slotter tool digs into the metal during the cutting stroke. In other words, depth of cut may be taken as the perpendicular distance between machined and un machined surface of the workpiece. It is expressed in mm.
