Metrology
How vital to engineers is the knowledge of the Science of Measurement (called Meterology ), it is clear from the words of Lord Kelvin.
All engineers, regardness of their branch of specialization, are constantly faced with the problem of measurement. It may be of time, mass, force, temperature, length, angle and so on. Almost invariably, the results of such measurements will determine the course of action the engineer takes there after. All such measurements form part of the Science of Metrology.
