Advantages and Disadvantages of Lapping -

Advantages of lapping

(i) Any material, hard or soft can be lapped.

(ii) Any size from 12 mm to 900 mm diameter can be lapped.

(iii) There is no warping of the lapped components.

(iv)No burrs are created.

Disadvantages of lapping

(i) Lapping is still somewhat of an art. It requires experience and skill.

(ii) Trial and error still may be needed to get the optimum results.
