Lapping

Lapping - Lapping is a low speed, low pressure abrading operation that accomplishes one or more of the following results:

(0 Extreme accuracy,

(ii) Correction of minor imperfections in shape,

(iii) Refinement of surface finish, and

(iv) Extremely close fit between mating surfaces.

Generally the quality that can be obtained by lapping, is not easily or economically obtained by other processes.
