Objectives of The main purpose of a mass finishing process is: (i) To finish parts not one by one, but many at one time. (ii) To remove scale from castings. (iii) To remove the burrs left on the work by previous operations. (iv) To eliminate tool marks left by machining. (v) To remove flash left around die castings. (vi) To remove sharp edges for safety in use and assembly. (vii) To provide good finish, sometimes referred to as burnishing and to bring out natural colour of the material.
