Testing Parallelism of Tailstock Sleeve with Saddle Movement
| A - Tool post |
B - Toilstock sleeve |
A dial gauge (G) is fixed on the tool post and its plunger is pressed against the tailstock sleeve first in vertical and then in horizontal plane. The carriage is then moved along the full length of the sleeve and deviations as indicated by dial gauge are noted.
Tailstock sleeve should be rising towards the free end in vertical plane by an amount not exceeding 0.02 mm and should be inclined forward by an amount not more than 0.01 mm.
