- The job milled on the horizontal milling machine shall be tapered if the table surface is not parallel to its plane of movement. To conduct this test, a dial gauge is fixed to the machine frame, with its plunger bearing on the table top. The table is traversed first along and then across through its full range. Deviations from parallelism, if any, are shown by the movements of the dial gauge pointer.
