Testing Squareness of Table Surface to its Vertical Movement in Milling Machines

Testing Squareness of Table Surface to its Vertical Movement in Milling Machines - A trisquare (TS) is clamped to the machine Table (T) with its blade vertical. A dial gauge (G) is fixed to the milling machine frame or spindle, with its plunger/anvil bearing on the trisquare blade.

Testing Squareness of Milling Machine Table Surface to its Vertical Movements

Testing Squareness of Milling Machine Table Surface to its Vertical Movements

G - Dial Gauge TS - Trisquare T - Machine Table

The table is moved vertically up to obtain a second reading of the dial gauge near the bottom of the blade, the machine knee being clamped while taking the readings of the dial gauge. The variation in the two (dial gauge) readings gives an idea about the extent of squareness of table surface to its vertical movement.
