Threads - The thread rolling process is economical because of the benefits of cold working, it results in parts with increased strength. When a thread is rolled, the fibers of the material are not severed as they are in the cut thread shown in Fig. Rolled threads are reformed or forged in continuous unbroken lines that follow the contours of the threads, as also shown in Fig. Rolled threads resist stripping because shear failures must take place across rather than with the grain.
