Methods of Evaluating MachinabilityMethods of Evaluating Machinability - Common methods of evaluating the machinability are by using one or more of the following criteria. (i) Tool life for a given surface meter speed and tool geometry. (ii) Cubic cm per minute of stock removed (iii) Power required, which is also related to cutting forces. (iv)Surface texture. A material that produces a better surface texture under equal conditions is considered to possess a higher degree of machinability. (v) Temperature of the cutting tool or chip. |
