Single Spindle Automatic Screw Machines - A Single spindle automatic screw machine has a cross slide that carries tools both front and rear. A turret mounted in a vertical position on a slide has longitudinal movement.
Cutting tools are mounted around the turret in a vertical plane in line with the machine spindle and all the operations such as turning, drilling, boring, threading etc., can be done on round, square or hexagonal bar work of small diameter. Disk cams control the cross slide and dogs engage various trip levers to control the operation of the machine.
