Turret Collapsing Tap - It is employed for cutting internal threads. A usual Solid tap, if used for cutting threads, need be reversed to take the tap out of the threaded hole at the end of threading   operation, But in case of a collapsing tap, its cutting edges are made to collapse into the body of the tap, when threading is complete and the tap can be brought out of the work piece very easily.
